Best time of year to do a Cairns-Brisbane tour and Broome-Perth tour (backpacking)?
Hey, I’m an Aussie backpacking in Australia and I have two travel plans this year: A 10 day tour from Broome to Perth (via coral bay, exmouth etc) and a 12 day Cairns to Brisbane (Whitsundays, fraser island – a LOT of beach time…).
I have time off work allocated in mid April, and late September. I cannot decide which trip to have when, and it’s based entirely on weather. Cairns has 18 rainy days in April compared to only a couple in Sept, but Brisbane in September is probably too cool for the beach! Is it worth leaving the Cairns-Brisbane tour till September to avoid the end of the wet season?
I’m a Melbournian so the concept of wet/dry seasons is very foreign to me…. Thanks all!!
If you are early September in Cairns then thats good but October is the start of the build up before the wet season and it can get very humid then . As for swimming in Brisbane I guess you will come to the Gold Coast and people swim here all year around The water temperature gets down to 19 in Winter but we get some chilly nights. Much the same for Broome but once down in Perth the nights can get cold April would be good you should see little rain if any. and the water temperature is still good from Summer . So really both those times are much the same but April would be beautiful for the Wild Flowers in WA.
